Final confrontation with the shadow

The boat comes to a stop on a sea that has turned to dry, dark sand. Ged steps out and walks into a realm of silence and shadow. He sees the shadow approaching, taking on the forms of people he has known: his father, Jasper, Pechvarry, Skiorh. Finally, it becomes a shapeless, crawling thing. Ged raises his staff, which blazes with white light. The shadow rises up to meet him. Aloud, Ged speaks the shadow's name, and the shadow speaks the same word: 'Ged.' They are one. Ged reaches out and takes hold of his shadow, and they merge. The light and darkness join, and Ged is made whole.
