upon Ged's return to Gont
Ogion's restoration
Ogion recognizes the hawk as Ged. He takes the bird into his house and lays a spell of restoration. He speaks Ged's name, and the hawk transforms back into the young man, ragged and exhausted. Ogion gives him food and rest, and Ged slowly recovers his human speech. He tells Ogion the whole story of his years since leaving Gont. Ogion listens in silence, then gives him counsel: he must stop running and turn to face his hunter. He must hunt the shadow. Ged accepts this, and Ogion makes him a new staff of yew-wood.
