Leaving Low Torning

Ged returns to Low Torning a hero. The people celebrate with bonfires and dancing, and they sing the Song of the Sparrowhawk. But Ged feels uneasy and driven. He knows the shadow is still hunting him. He leaves the next day, unable to stay in a place where he is praised but also feared. He travels through the Ninety Isles, and his fame precedes him. He tries to return to Roke, but the Roke-wind rises against him, preventing his approach. The island's protective spells recognize the shadow that follows him, and he is barred from the one place he thought was safe.
