Voyage to Roke

Ged sails from Gont on the ship Shadow. He experiences the sea for the first time and learns the work of a crewman. The ship passes Havnor and other islands of the Archipelago. A great storm arises, and the ship is blown off course. The master asks Ged to abate the wind, but he cannot. Ged sees a light to the west and insists it is Roke Island. The master, desperate, follows his direction. They row through the storm and emerge into a calm, clear sky, arriving at Thwil Bay on Roke. This event demonstrates Ged's innate power and his ability to sense the truth, even when he lacks the skill to control it.
