Death of Archmage Nemmerle

Nemmerle lies dying in the fountain court, his life force spent. The Masters of Roke keep vigil. His raven of Osskil flies away, a sign that he is passing. The iron bells of the Chanter's Tower toll his death. The Nine Masters gather in the Immanent Grove to choose a new Archmage. They select Gensher of Way. A ship is sent to bring him to Roke. Ged, meanwhile, lies blind and feverish in the healing-chambers, unaware of the world. The death of Nemmerle is a profound loss for Roke and a direct consequence of Ged's folly.
