Meeting with Archmage Gensher

Ged is brought before the new Archmage, Gensher, to offer his fealty. Gensher refuses to accept it, saying he does not know what Ged is. He tells Ged that the shadow he loosed is a nameless power of unlife, and that it will hunt him. He says Ged must stay on Roke, protected by the island's defenses, until he gains the strength to face it. Ged is devastated, feeling that he should have died. Gensher tells him to continue his training and do his work well. This meeting confirms Ged's worst fears: he is bound to a terrible enemy and cannot escape.
