Shipwreck on the isle

The shadow leads Ged into a thick fog. He sees it again, very close, and veers his boat to follow. But it is a trick: his boat runs aground on shoal rocks and is smashed by a wave. Ged is thrown into the sea, nearly drowning. He is washed up on a sandy beach, clutching his staff. He crawls inland and finds a small hut. Inside are two old people, a man and a woman, who cower in terror. They are castaways, speaking only Kargish. Ged is exhausted and sick, and he stays with them for three days to recover.
