Naming by Ogion
The mage Ogion the Silent, hearing of the boy's deed, comes to Ten Alders. He heals Duny with a touch and offers to take him as a prentice. On the day of his Passage into manhood, Duny walks naked into the cold springs of the River Ar. Ogion, waiting on the far bank, whispers to him his true name: Ged. This ceremony marks the end of his childhood and the beginning of his formal training in wizardry. After the naming feast, Ogion tells Ged to bid his people farewell, and they leave the village together, setting off into the steep forests of Gont Mountain.
