Dreams of the shadow

Ged begins to dream of the shadow. He dreams of it as a headless bear fumbling around his house, searching for the door. He wakes weak and cold, and the scars on his face ache. He realizes the shadow is drawing near, seeking to possess him. He sets up magical barriers around his house, but they drain his strength. He feels trapped and helpless, waiting for the enemy to come. The fear of the shadow consumes him, and he knows he cannot remain in Low Torning, as his presence endangers the islanders.
