Aftermath of Suicide Attempt

Yozo is hospitalized and treated for a lung ailment. He is questioned by the police and a district attorney, where his feigned coughing of blood is gently exposed. The charge is suspended, and his guarantor, Flatfish, takes him to live in his house in Okubo. Yozo feels utterly wretched and is forbidden to leave the house, leading a half-wit's existence.
