Servants' Abuse

Yozo reveals that he was sexually abused by the maids and menservants in his household. He endured the abuse in silence, unable to confide in his parents or anyone else, convinced that any complaint would be dismissed by the world's hypocritical logic. This trauma deepens his distrust of human beings and reinforces his belief that he must hide his true self behind a mask of clowning.
