Life in the Village

Yozo lives in a dilapidated house by the sea, looked after by the ugly old servant Tetsu. He is occasionally violated by her. His health fluctuates, and he coughs blood. He has become a 'reject,' devoid of happiness or unhappiness. His only truth is that 'everything passes.' He is twenty-seven but looks over forty.
