Spring, after running away from Flatfish
Meeting Shizuko
At Horiki's house, Yozo meets Shizuko, a journalist who commissions illustrations. She takes pity on him and offers him a place to stay. Yozo moves into her apartment in Koenji, becoming a kept man. He begins drawing cartoons for her magazine, but his depression deepens, and he feels trapped by his dependence on her.
