Move to Tokyo

Yozo moves to Tokyo to attend college, at his father's insistence, living first in a dormitory and then in his father's town house in Ueno. He finds communal life appalling and cuts classes, spending his time reading and painting. He begins attending an art class in Hongo, where he meets Masao Horiki, a cynical art student who introduces him to drinking, prostitutes, and left-wing thought.
