Article Accepted

The narrator returns to his old attic, finding a letter from the editor. His story has been accepted and will be printed the next day; he will receive half-a-sovereign. He is overjoyed, laughing and crying, and wanders the streets all night, repeating the editor's praise. He feels saved.
