Departure on the Copégoro

The narrator signs on to the Copégoro, which is sailing for Leith in ballast. He is set to work. As the ship sails out of the fjord, he drags himself up and looks back at Christiania, bidding it farewell. The windows of the city gleam in the dark. He leaves behind his hunger, his madness, and his love for Ylajali.
