The Circle of the Sun and the Life of St. Dominic (by Bonaventure)

A second circle of lights appears, and St. Bonaventure, a Franciscan, speaks. He recounts the life of St. Dominic, praising his learning and his zeal against heresy. He laments the corruption of the Franciscan Order. He then identifies the souls in his circle: Illuminato, Agostino, Hugh of St. Victor, Peter Mangiador, Peter of Spain, Nathan, Chrysostom, Anselm, Donatus, Rabanus, and Joachim of Fiore. This episode complements the previous one, celebrating the ideal of learned preaching and the founding of the Dominican Order.
