The Passage of Lethe and Eunoe

Beatrice prophesies the coming of a savior who will restore the Church. She then instructs Matilda to lead Dante to the river Eunoe, which restores the memory of good deeds. Dante drinks from Eunoe and emerges 'pure and disposed to mount unto the stars.' This completes his purification and prepares him for the ascent to Paradise. The Purgatorio ends with Dante ready to ascend to the heavens.
