Orr Tinkers with the Stove

Orr is constantly tinkering with a stove he is building in their tent. He takes it apart and puts it back together endlessly, driving Yossarian crazy. The stove is a symbol of Orr's patience, ingenuity, and hidden purpose. It is later revealed that his tinkering was practice for the mechanical skills he would need to escape to Sweden.
