Yossarian's Roommates Arrive

Four young, cheerful replacement officers move into Yossarian's tent. They are everything he is not: optimistic, energetic, and obedient. They drive him crazy with their noise and high spirits, and they even throw out the dead man's belongings. Their arrival marks the end of Yossarian's isolation and forces him to confront the new generation of soldiers who have not yet been broken by the war.
