Yossarian Tackles Major Major

Desperate to be grounded, Yossarian ambushes Major Major in the ditch and forces him to talk. Major Major admits he can do nothing to help and advises Yossarian to see the chaplain. The encounter is a farce of military protocol, with the squadron commander fleeing from his own subordinate. It demonstrates the complete impotence of the official chain of command to address Yossarian's legitimate concerns.
