The C.I.D. Men Investigate

Two C.I.D. men, one from the hospital and one from the squadron, investigate the forgeries of Washington Irving's name. They suspect the chaplain, Major Major, and Yossarian, but their investigation is a comedy of errors. They are incompetent and easily misled, and they end up suspecting each other. The investigation satirizes the military's security apparatus, showing it to be more concerned with appearances than with actual threats.
