Yossarian Goes Naked After Avignon
After Snowden's death, Yossarian walks around the squadron naked, refusing to wear a uniform. He sits in a tree, watching Snowden's funeral. Milo finds him there and tries to get him to taste chocolate-covered cotton. Yossarian's nakedness is a symptom of his profound trauma and his rejection of the military's values. It is a visible sign of his mental breakdown and his determination to no longer participate in the war's absurdities.
