Yossarian and the Texan

Yossarian shares a ward with a patriotic Texan who drives everyone crazy with his good-natured but insufferable opinions. The Texan is a symbol of blind patriotism and the kind of mindless optimism that Yossarian finds so threatening. His presence eventually drives Yossarian out of the hospital and back to the war.
