Yossarian and the Feather in Cap vs Black Eye

Colonel Cathcart constantly weighs his actions in terms of 'feathers in his cap' and 'black eyes.' This binary thinking is a parody of military logic, where success and failure are measured by their impact on one's career rather than their actual consequences. Yossarian's actions are a constant source of black eyes for Cathcart.
