Julia slips Winston the love note

Four days after the encounter outside the junk shop, Winston meets the dark-haired girl in a long corridor at the Ministry. Her right arm is in a sling, and as she passes him she stumbles and falls almost flat on her face. Winston instinctively helps her up. In the two or three seconds of helping her, she slips a small folded scrap of paper into his hand. Winston goes to the lavatory and feels the paper in his pocket, but he does not dare read it there because telescreens watch continuously. He returns to his cubicle and places the paper casually among others on his desk.
