Mr Charrington reveals himself as Thought Police
Mr Charrington comes into the room, and his demeanour has changed completely. The cockney accent has disappeared, his white hair has turned black, and he is no longer wearing his spectacles. His face has undergone tiny changes that transform him into an alert, cold man of about thirty-five. Winston realizes that he is looking, for the first time in his life, at a member of the Thought Police. The kind, harmless antique dealer was an illusion all along.
