O'Brien tells Winston to love Big Brother

O'Brien comes to Winston's cell and says, 'You have had thoughts of deceiving me. That was stupid.' He tells Winston that intellectually he is improving, but emotionally he has failed to make progress. When asked his true feelings towards Big Brother, Winston answers, 'I hate him.' O'Brien says, 'Good. Then the time has come for you to take the last step. You must love Big Brother. It is not enough to obey him: you must love him.' O'Brien pushes Winston toward the guards and says 'Room 101.'
