Winston reads I love you

After eight minutes, Winston flattens out the scrap of paper and reads the words 'I love you' written in a large unformed handwriting. He is too stunned to throw it into the memory hole immediately. A fire seems to burn in his belly, and he cannot concentrate on his work. He is torn between fear that it is a trap and hope that the Brotherhood exists. The note changes his whole attitude toward the girl and gives him a powerful desire to stay alive.
