Winston arranges a meeting with Julia

For a week Winston lives in a restless dream, trying to find a way to meet the girl. He spots her in the canteen, but is blocked by Wilsher on one occasion. Finally he manages to sit at her table, and they exchange whispered words: 'What time do you leave work?' 'Eighteen-thirty.' 'Where can we meet?' 'Victory Square, near the monument.' They arrange to meet at nineteen hours. She tells him not to come up to her until she is among a lot of people, and not to look at her. Winston is terrified that she will change her mind, but the plan is made.
